Swallowing the River

When I lost touch with the world, I realised
I
Need
To
Find
Myself

Swallowing the River was devised by 16 members of the 2006 St Martin’s Foundation Ensemble aged 13-17 years, after developing skills in Viewpoints, Composition and Devising for theatre with Director Julie Waddington.  Ensemble members contributed stories, poems and visual art through anonymous emails and visual postcards inspired by the online community art project PostSecret.

Five teen hosts presented a wide range of stories inspired in style and structure by television lifestyle and opinion shows including video music clips, vox pops, and skits ‘performed’ by the ensemble.

The anonymous nature of the story collection process resulted in a frank, uncomfortable, bittersweet and hilarious roller-coaster of live performance.
